We hijacked nativeTwitch behaviours to remind gamers to stay energized with mio the moment they drank water.

Twitch streamers broadcast for hours, often neglecting hydration. This leads to low energy streams, and disengaged audiences. mio adds energy to water making it the perfect fuel for long streaming sessions. But how could we get streamers and gamers to hear us on a platform that notoriously hates ads? By hijacking native Twitch behaviors and effortlessly squeezing mio Energy into the conversation.

Twitch viewers type !hydrate when they want to remind distracted streamers to drink water.

You type !hydrate in chat, streamers drink. We saw an opportunity. So, we joined unsuspecting streams and reminded streamers to !hydrate. Just like mio adds energy to water, we brought energy to streams the instant streamers drank. We used Twitch’s raid feature, which instantly sends the audience of one stream to another, to deliver dozens of unique mio accounts to streams, bringing them exactly what they want most: bigger audiences and high energy chats. We hyped up streamers and gamers, gave away Twitch subscriptions to viewers, and became the subject of conversation for thousands of Twitch users.

We turned their streams into our ads.

Instead of interrupting streams with distracting ads like most brands, we became an unexpected part of streamers content. Twitch users voluntarily talked about mio for hours, reaching a niche audience in an organic and native way that only mio could. We gained respect from streamers and gamers alike, without a single dollar spent in media or partnerships.

Squeezing good in
on a small budget

Over a span of only 3 days we turned everyday streams into thousands of mio ads leading to an 88% increase in chat engagement and a 33% increase in traffic to our Amazon pages. All for $0 in media.
