Friggin’ Sweet Collab
Ore-Ida’s Tater Tots played an unforgettable role in the 2004 cult classic “Napoleon Dynamite.” Stuffed in Napoleon’s pocket as a delicious snack, but then cruelly crushed by his bully, the Tots quickly became synonymous with the movie and its beloved title character. To mark the anniversary of the film’s release, we enlisted actor Jon Heder to reprise his role for the first time in decades and designed tot-protecting pants to ensure our tots never got crushed again.
The Launch
When the real Napoleon Dynamite surprised the internet with his return to character for the first time in twenty years, the fans got super happy about it and demanded more content. So we gave it to them, posting b-roll footage and photos from our epic shoot day.
The Buzz
After appearing on Jimmy Kimmel, and with endless earned media coverage, we sold out of pants so fast, we’re still suffering whiplash. Most importantly, our Tot sales skyrocketed as fans flocked to stores for their favourite snack and headed over to our partner Disney to rewatch this beloved cult classic, bumping it to the top ten streaming movies on hulu.
